Why Glass? Bacteria in grout!

Updated: Jan 26, 2021

There are five main types of bacteria that live in your kitchen or bathroom grout:

1. Salmonella

2. Streptococcus

3. Staphylococcus

4. Escherichia coli

5. Campylobacter

Now, while most of us aren’t licking the walls while we shower (…I hope), it’s quite easy to be exposed to small amounts of the bacteria which can still cause uncomfortable symptoms and illnesses from diarrhea, vomiting and stomach cramps to blisters, boils and impetigo!

As much as we clean or even hire professional steamers on occasion, the porous nature of grout makes it ripe for bacteria breeding.

But, there is another option…

When you are planning your bathroom materials for a new build or remodel, consider glass wall panels. Not only are they beautiful and durable, there is also NO GROUT for you to have to clean and worry about!

Colorback glass panels can be customized to any color you desire and seamlessly match your décor. Check out some of the beautiful bathrooms and kitchens we’ve created using colorback glass or visit our quick quoting tool for a ballpark on costs.
